Using Humor To Cope With Embarrassment

Embarrassment is a part of life, but it can be limiting when negative thinking or high stress. This exercise uses the healing powers of writing and humor to help you deal with embarrassing situations. For many BIPOC and People of ENRICH, we judge ourselves way too harshly, based on microaggressive and racist messages we receive from others. Many of us allow strangers to live rent-free in our psyche and undermine us every step of the way. Eventually, we develop an unhealthy obsession trying to please and meet the unrealistic expectations of people we will never satisfy.   In situations where it's unavoidable, such as the workplace, you have to take it in stride and not let the experience erode your identity and sense of self. This exercise can be helpful in training you to put these situations in perspective and not take them too seriously.
