When you come from an environment where accomplishments are dismissed, or pride is seen as self-centered and selfish, you repeat this environment as an adult. This results in not having enough highs and pride in your accomplishments to support you through the difficult times. Strengths are things we are naturally good at. For example, we might be naturally creative, exceptionally generous with our time, or persevere when things get tough. Utilizing our strengths energizes you and helps you feel and perform at your best. One informal strategy for getting more insight into your strengths is to analyze and be mindful of what you are proud of.
